President Kufuor announces 5bn allocation to Sunyani

Sunyani (B/A) Sept. 12, GNA – Five billion cedis has been allocated to Sunyani Municipal Assembly from the District Assemblies’ Common Fund for improvement in infrastructure to befit its status.

President John Agyekum Kufuor announced on Sunday when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people in the municipality on the first day of a five-day tour of some parts of Brong-Ahafo.

Overwhelmed by the crowd at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the President thanked Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri 11, Omanhene of the Traditional Area, who in his welcoming address had expressed appreciation for what the government had done for the municipality since it came to power.

“It is not all people who show gratitude to their benefactors and Nana Asor Nkrawiri deserves my personal acknowledgement”, President Kufuor said.

On the newly created district capitals in the region, President Kufuor appealed to the Chief Executives to be appointed to work hard to develop their respective areas, as that was the cardinal essence for creating those districts.

Earlier, Nana Bosoma appealed for a police barracks in Sunyani, stressing that the one started about 30 years ago was yet to be completed.

The Omanhene also appealed for the completion of the Centre for National Culture (CNC) building, which was also started about 40 years ago.

President Kufuor promised to take the necessary action on the Omanhene’s requests towards the provision of the amenities.
