Presbyterian Church ordains seventeen Ministers

Accra, 10 June, GNA – Right Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Sunday called on ministers of the gospel to do away with discriminatory tendencies which did not help in developing the Kingdom of God.

He said as ministers of the gospel, one must not only look at the rich alone as people who could help them but also attend to the poor in society, adding, “Do not discriminate between the economic haves and have not but serve every individual diligently, irrespective of status”. Rev Frimpong-Manso, was delivering the sermon at an ordination ceremony for seventeen newly qualified ministers of PCG under the theme: “God has come to help his people.”

He stressed the need for ministers to trust in the Lord for their sustenance rather than men.

The ordination, which makes them legally accepted ministers of PCG came after a two-year probationary service to the church’s branches across the country.

“Trust in the Lord for miracles and sustenance and use the gospel as a tool to alleviating poverty, sickness and given hope to the hopeless as against personal gains”.

Rev. Frimpong-Manso said it was only when ministers of God develop their analytical and be specific in their calling that they could meet the needs of society. humble.

“As ministers conduct yourselves in discipline, remain humble and live above reproach and adhere to the principles and dictates of the Holy Book as well as the church for a successful ministry”.

“You have been called by God to this ministry to perform a task; you must therefore remain humble and constantly rely on God for spiritual nourishment”.

Rev Frimpong-Manso therefore, urged them to be faithful and selfless disciples in spreading the gospel adding, “As ambassadors of Christ we look at the priestly vocation as a call to live the unique and permanent priesthood of Christ and therefore must adapt to every era and circumstance of life”.

Three foreign ministers from three West African countries were among those ordained. 10 June 07
