Wa, July 29, GNA- Mr. Godfrey Bayon Tangu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive on Wednesday reminded premium collectors of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) that the success of the scheme depended on the availability of money and any embezzlement of premiums would not be tolerated.
They should therefore demonstrate good faith and high moral standards in the handling of monies they would collect. Mr. Tangu was addressing a one-day workshop organised for 130 premium collectors of the scheme drawn from the municipality, the Wa East and Wa West Districts at Wa.
He urged those given the responsibility of implementing the scheme in the area to package their information and sensitisation messages in a way that people would not misconstrue it to be free.
Mr. Ilyas Yakubu, Wa Municipal Focal Person of the scheme, told the collectors not to expect monthly remunerations, however, they would be paid commissions based on the amount collected.
Each of them would also be expected to provide sureties and guarantors to deter them from running away with monies collected, he said.
Mr. Yakubu advised them to bury party affiliation when entering the communities and view the concept as “health for all”. “Nobody will ever ask you of the political party you belong when you go to hospital for treatment,” he added.
