– Fishermen Threatens Demo

There has been shortage of premix fuel in the Kete-Krachi Township for the past two week hindering fishing in the community and bringing hardship to the people. Investigations conducted by The Al-Hajj at the Krachi landing beaches indicates that for the past two weeks fisher folks have been idle as pre-mix fuel for their boats is scarce.
The Al-Hajj found out that the supply of premix fuel comes once in every month and efforts made by the DCE to have the commodity in every two week has not yielded results.
Currently the District receives about 13,500 liters which is being used for three months before another consignment arrives.
When the Al-Hajj contacted the chief fisherman for Krachi West, Togbi Dordou, he appealed to the government to ensure frequent supply of premix fuel to the area. Togbi Wayo said life has being very difficult for the people in the last two week adding that the fisher folks are planning to hit the street if government doesn’t come to their aid.
Togbi Wayo was worried how life could look like if premix fuel does not come to their area. There were indications of shortages at the landing beaches as glass containers and drums at the fuel stations were all empty at the time of our visit.
