Political parties to sign Code of Conduct for Elections

Accra, July 19, GNA- Registered political parties are to sign a Code of Conduct for the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Accra on Tuesday, July 20.

A release issued by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) in Accra on Monday said the Code would address and regulate the Conduct of political parties during and after the elections. Since 2002, the NIMD has been active in Ghana, through their local partner, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) to support political parties in Parliament.

The NIMD is an independent Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), funded by all political parties in the Dutch Parliament both those in government and opposition.

The main objective of NIMD is to support the process of democratisation in young democracies in Latin America, Africa and Asia. It operates in 13 countries with eight of them in Africa.
