Political NPP Tour

Goaso (B/A) July 11, GNA – Mr Lord Commey, National Organizer of New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for a more harmonious co-existence among political parties for the smooth and unimpeded growth of democracy in the country.

He said the current spate of allegations and denials between political parties did not augur well for democracy to thrive. The National Organizer was addressing NPP supporters at Goaso as part of his two-day tour of the Asunafo District.

He said the NPP Government inherited almost nothing from the previous administration but had been able to turn the fortunes of the country around tremendously during its short period in office. He enumerated improvement in infrastructure, social amenities, employment and poverty reduction in the rural areas, as some of the successes chalked by the NPP administration.

He said the NPP Government was committed to further economic advancement and advised groups and individuals to desist from acts that could derail the party’s plans to revamp the national economy.

On Journalists and their civic responsibility towards the smooth nurturing of Ghana’s democracy, Mr Commey noted that though media standards were high, there was room for improvement. He urged members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm to strive to satisfy the expectations of the citizenry by complying with the ethics of the profession.

Mr Commey stressed that the clarion call for circumspection on the part of media practitioners and the avoidance of skewed reportage should not be considered as mere theories for inclusion in political speeches. He reminded Journalists that they constituted the mirror through which society viewed the contemporary world and, therefore, deserved to be morally and professionally upright.

The NPP National Organizer expressed optimism that followers of different political parties in the district would tolerate one another to sustain the relative peace in the area for accelerated development.
