Winneba, Sept. 16, GNA – Mr. Jordan Quaye, Winneba District Police Commander, has said rapes and defilement cases were serious offences and should not be settled at home.
He said anybody who attempted to collect any form of compensation on behalf of any rape or defilement victims should be reported to the police.
Mr Quaye told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Winneba on Saturday that between January and September the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police in Winneba recorded 3 rape and 7 defilement cases.
The cases are pending at the Agona Swedru circuit court. Mr Quaye appealed to the people in the district to help the law enforcement agencies to eliminate the practices completely in the district.
He said the district police command was not happy with the way children roamed “dangerously in the streets” and appealed to parents to take full control of their children.
