Police To check Sex Tourist

…And Commercial Sex Workers
The Ghana Police Service has instituted measures to clamp down on sex tourist and commercial sex workers in the country.

This follows an upsurge of the number of commercial sex workers and sex tourist in three cities Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast.

The sex tourists who operate predominantly in major tourist centres prey on innocent children and spread HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The lack of legislations to regulate such immoral activities by people who take advantage of the tourist potentials of the country has increased the burden of sexual transmitted diseases in the country.

Speaking on Joy FM?s Super Morning show, the Police Commissioner in charge of Operations, Dr. K .K Marfo said the police service is adopting several approaches to sweep out all the sex workers and sex tourist from the street.

However, in an interview with Joy News the Minister of Tourism and the Modernization of the Capital, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey said his ministry is much concerned about paedophiles and homosexuals who visit the country.

He said his outfit would make sure tourist who indulge in such act face the full rigors of the law.
