Police take steps to fight crime during Christmas

Koforidua, Dec 22, GNA – The Eastern Regional Police Command has assured the public that it had put in place measures to ensure that Christmas was celebrated in an atmosphere devoid of crime. Deputy Commissioner of police Ransford Ninson, the Regional Police Commander, told the GNA in an interview that both uniformed and non-uniform wearing personnel of the service had been detailed to patrol and provide adequate security for the public.

He said the Regional Command had also stepped up highway patrol and reactivated the tent city concept in the districts with police personnel to man them.

Mr Ninson said apart from the patrols and the tent city concept, polic= e personnel had also been detailed to the markets and all other areas that attract large crowds.

He said the police wanted to ensure that all criminal activities would be reduced to the barest minimum. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the security personnel to ensure a crime free Christmas.
