Police seize 97 sacks of Indian hemp

Police personnel in the Volta Region have seized 97 fertilizer sacks, stuffed with compressed parcels of dry leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, from an unoccupied house at Wudoaba near Denu.

Mr Caesar Abanga, Aflao District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that his outfit got a hint at about 0400 hours last Saturday that a vehicle was discharging some goods into a house at Wudoaba.

He said his men rushed to the place and found the sacks each containing between 15 to 50 slabs.

Mr Abanga said efforts were being made by the Police to apprehend those involved.

He said the vehicle used to cart the leaves was also being traced.

A police source said this single haul of suspected Indian hemp was the largest seizure for some time now.
