Police search for alleged murderer

Sunyani Jan. 19, GNA – The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has mounted a manhunt for a Yaw Wayo for allegedly killing his friend, Nana Yaw Ansu Yeboah over a 2,000 cedis debt at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa District.

Inspector Christopher Tawiah, Regional Police Public Relations Officer told newsmen in Sunyani that the deceased attended a dance at Yaa-Krom near Nkrankwanta, on Christmas Day last year. While at the dance hall Wayo engaged in a gambling game with another friend, Papa Yaw and argument ensued as to who had won a 2,000 cedis prize.

The deceased, who could not see the two friends fighting, intervened and asked Wayo to give the money to Papa Yaw, but this infuriated Wayo who stabbed Yeboah in the throat with a knife. Wayo after the act bolted and the people around assisted in conveying Yeboah to the Dormaa Hospital but he died on the way.

Inspector Tawiah said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy whilst Papa Yaw had been granted police enquiry bail.
