Police officers cautioned to be wary of social media

Police officers have been advised to be mindful of the use of social media.

Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Director General in-charge of Special Duties issued the caution when he reviewed passing out parade of 134 police recruits at the Police Public Safety Training School at Pwalugu.

His advice comes only months after a female police officer on her facebook wall used all manner of unprintable words on the people of Wa in the Upper West region.

COP Yohuno said social media could serve as a recipe for self-destruction and therefore entreated police officers especially ladies to be wary of it.

“It can easily expose you to public ridicule and wreak your career forever. That is why I will entreat you to be wary of it’ especially our ladies. A word to the wise is enough.”

COP Yohuno also cautioned the recruits to be extra circumspect in their daily activities especially at a time some officers have been killed on duty by robbers.

“Most of these deaths could have been avoided if we had observed the basic tenets of our noble profession. The rudiment of our jobs is summarized in the police Hand Book and I would urge you to make it your ‘Bible’ if you want to stay away from trouble”

He disclosed that the police service is undergoing transformational agenda to match international best practices. General Recruit Amoh Obeng Abraham emerged the best recruit.
