Police Officer commends the government

The Akyem Oda Police Divisional Commander, Mr Ben Asamoah has commended the government for providing the Police with logistics and motivation and said this had enhanced the Service’s capacity to combat crime.

”The Police has made great strides in maintaining law and order for the past 10 years especially under the present administration.”

Mr Asamaoh said this at a seminar organised by the West Akyem District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for security agencies, assembly members, unit committees, heads of departments and the public as part of activities marking the Constitution Week.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Umar Amoah, said the Constitution and several enactments of Parliament since 1993 have provided a “people centred system of governance.”

”As the system evolves citizens’ participation would also increase especially if all stakeholders realised the importance of participation as a way of avoiding corruption.”

The Eastern Regional Research Officer of NCCE, Mr Emmanuel Oppong appealed to Ghanaians to respect the rights and freedoms of the vulnerable and excluded and give them their due respect in order to make life easier for them.

Mr Kwaku Adu-Amankwah, West Akyem Director of NCCE, appealed to Ghanaians not only to fight for their rights and freedoms but should complement this by performing their civic duties.

”By so doing you will get involved in the governance of the country and also be part of decision-making in your communities.”
