Two armed robbers have been shot dead by Police in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, Classfmonline.com has gathered.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 30 June 2016.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti regional Police Command, ASP Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the killing of the robbers to ClassFMonline.com in a telephone conversation, said the police were yet to brief the media on the incident.

The region has recently experienced several robbery attacks, a situation that compelled the police to declare wanted 19 notorious robbers, one of them a dismissed police constable, Murtala Mohammed, who is believed to be running criminal gangs terrorising residents in and around Kumasi.

“We have arrested some of them but a majority of them are still at large. Now we know some of their movements. We know Murtala …we have heard he’s crossed the border to Burkina [Faso] because he’s been calling a sister on a Burkina phone number. The rest, we are pursuing them. But we have arrested a handful of them,” ACP Osei Ampofo Duku, Regional Deputy Commander, said recently.
