Police investigate recruiting and arming of land guards by sub-chief

Police in the Ashanti Region are investigating a case in which a sub-chief is alleged to have recruited and armed land-guards.

Odikro of Bomso, Opanin Kofi Krah, is said to have mobilized about 20 young men and given them ammunition to eject developers who have acquired land from the chief of the town.

One of the recruits however informed the local Assemblyman about the Odikro’s activities and later the regional police command.

Nhyira FM’s Naa Amerley Nortey reported the informant has since been receiving death threats.

The police have arrested four of the recruits but the Odikro himself is on the run.
