Police Harass Fuel Pump Attendants For Suspected Hoarding

…AS FEAR OF FUEL PRICE INCREASES MOUNT…
Operators of fuel stations in Accra are being harassed by the security agencies for allegedly hoarding petroleum products in anticipation of price hike.

Two managers and 14 fuel station attendants of Mobil and Total filling stations in Accra were rounded up in the early hours of Monday and detained for several hours at the Accra Central Police Station before they were granted bail of 20 million cedis.

Meanwhile, the fuel station staff have expressed worry over this development and have warned that if this harassment continues they will adopt measures such as closing down their stations, because the offence they are being accused of committing, is not true.
