Police foils the sale of a human being

Kasoa, May 16, GNA – Swift action by the Kasoa Police foiled a plot by a man to sell his 30-year-old brother for 500 million cedis. Samuel Kwesi Gyan, 45, was negotiating to sell Emmanuel Okine when police grabbed him, Mr Charles A. Adalong, Assistant Superintendent of Police in-charge of Kasoa District, told the GNA.

He said a friend of Gyan, Kwesi Dadzie, has also been arrested. Mr Adalong said Mr Michael Otabil, the Proprietor of Otamens Hotel, on Saturday received a call from Gyan saying that he had someone with a hunchback to sell but the proprietor said his location at the time was not convenient for such a transaction and fixed a meeting on Sunday at the hotel.

Mr Otabil informed the police who arrested the suspect when he showed up for the transaction.

Mr Adalong said both Gyan and his junior brother were staying at a cottage where Okine was assisting the senior brother in farming.
