Police arrest person behind false terrorist attack on Accra Mall

The Police have arrested a 30 year old man behind the false terrorist attack on the Accra Mall and currently assisting in investigations.

It would be recalled that on 24th September, 2017, there was wide circulation on various social media platforms about terrorist attack on the mall which created fear and panic and nearly destabilized business activities at the mall.

Through investigations conducted by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) led to the arrest of the suspect as the originator of the hoax.

According to the Police, the suspect was arrested in his hideout at Offinso in the Ashanti Region on 1st November, 2017 and is currently in custody assisting in police investigations.

A statement signed by ACP David Eklu, Director-General/Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service urged the general public to desist from the use of prank and also assure all that the police have the capacity to fish out persons who circulate false news on social media and other platforms in relation to issues that can have national security implications.
