Police arrest 58 criminals

Accra (Greater Accra), 26 Jan.’99 –

Fifty-eight people were rounded up at dawn today at Zongo Junction and Darkuman, for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Four television sets, a video deck, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, fake currencies both local and foreign were seized from some of the suspects.

According to Police Inspector David Eklu of the Public Relations unit, the suspects will be screened and those found to be involved in criminal activities will be prosecuted.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Mr Johnson Abudu, said the exercise is part of measures to check criminal activities and urged the public to co-operate with the Police .
