The Dakpema of Tamale, Naa Alhassan Dawuni has appealed to the security agencies in Tamale not to abuse their roles by molesting innocent citizens of Tamale.
Naa Dawuni said people are being beaten even when they are going to the mosque, describing it as a worrying development.
The Chief of Tamale was speaking during a courtesy call on him by Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, former President of Ghana, on Saturday.
He said his people had to go to the mosque at 5am and he expected that the security agencies would apply discretion, but rather than just prevent them from moving at that time of the day if they prefer to apply the 11pm to 5am curfew stringently, they have decided to apply violence on persons who desire to worship God at the given time.
³We have no solace from no one but Allah, but even going to the mosque means people can get beaten. I am appealing to the security agencies to be considerate in their actions,² he said.
The Dakpema expressed his thanks to President Rawlings for his visit at such short notice and said he shared his views on the poor manner the Ya Na¹s investigation and subsequent trial had been handled.
