People of Oblogo calls for quality education

Oblogo (G/A), Aug. 17, GNA- A durbar to sensitise the people on quality education at Oblogo in Greater Accra Region was held on Sunday to round off the Homowo festival with a call on chiefs to remove factors that hinders gender parity in education especially for the girl-child.

In an address, Mrs Victoria Opoku, Ga District Director of Education of the Ghana Education Service (GES), in a speech read for her by Mr Damerson D. Danquah, of the GES, said focus was on the girl-child education for development.

She called on parents to send their children to school to enable them to bring improvement in their homes, adding that there was the need to get the commitment of chiefs to remove factors that hinders boy and girl-child education.

The Chief of Oblogo, Nii Kwaku Bibini III, stressed the need for teachers at Oblogo to be committed and determined to provide quality education to children in the area.

Mr. Francis Adu Boahene, a businessman, who chaired the function promised to support development projects in the town and called on the people to support the chief in initiating projects.

Citizens of the town, who in diverse ways contributed to the development of the area last year, were honoured.
