People of Atwea raise funds to support development programmes

Atwea (Ash), May 4, GNA – The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Central, Mr Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, has urged the people of the area to strive to better their living conditions through self-help.

He gave the assurance that communities that took the initiative to address their development challenges on their own would be supported by the district assembly.

Mr Akuoko-Frimpong was addressing a durbar, held by the chiefs and people of Atwea, near Nsuta, to raise funds for the repair of broken down boreholes and the replacement of street light bulbs. The DCE said the assembly had supplied large quantities of building materials towards the construction of school projects in some of the communities.

Additionally, it was providing the schools with furniture as well as teaching and learning aids. He spoke of plans to establish a scholarship scheme to assist brilliant but needy students in their academic pursuit. Mr Akuoko-Frimpong advised the people to ensure that they kept the environment clean to avoid diseases. The assembly member for the area, Mrs Emelia Amponsah Boatemaa, called on non-resident citizens to identify with programmes designed to give the community the needed facelift. An amount of GH¢2,000.00 was realized.
