Pastor urges Ghanaians to be patriotic

Pastor Stephen Teye, Acting Takoradi Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, on Saturday called on Ghanaians to be patriotic and to collectively work towards the development of the country.

He was preaching the sermon at an Easter convention of the Church under the theme, “I shall not die but live”, at Takoradi.

Pastor Teye said the people should have the country at heart because Ghana is their motherland and stop insulting elders because the Bible says: “We must love our neighbour as ourselves”.

He said death would have no power over Christians if they lead righteous lives and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour adding, “The essence of Easter is to lead righteous lives and to be patriotic”.

Pastor Teye said Easter has brought about hope that “We shall live and the second death would have no power over us in the resurrection….Everybody must, therefore, repent and accept Jesus Christ as the Saviour”.

At an Easter Convention of the Sekondi-Takoradi Baptist Association at Takoradi, Reverend Mark Nti Frimpong, the Chairman, spoke on the theme of the convention “Holy Unto the Lord”.

He said believers in Christ are commanded to live a life of holiness and moral purity and God has called every Christian to a holy life.

“It is not a call only to Pastors, missionaries and a few dedicated Christians”, Reverend Frimpong said: “Every Christian of every nation, whether rich or poor, educated or not educated, influential or totally unknown, is called to be holy”, he added.

Reverend Frimpong said some Churches are preaching prosperity these days saying although money is necessary, holiness is more important.**
