Techiman (B/A), May 25, GNA – A circuit court at Techiman has remanded a pastor of Christ Foundation Church at Kenten in Techiman and one other for fraud.
Pastor Joseph Amoah and Kwasi Ameyaw, a farmer pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding Mr Kwasi Takyi of 1.2 million CFA and 30,000 Euros and will re-appear on May 31.
The police have retrieved 110,000 CFA francs and 1,080 million cedis from the two.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Sampson Y. Jebuni told the court presided by Mr. Justice Erasmus Gyinae that on May 9 this year, Mr Takyi returned from Gabon and stayed with Ameyaw, his senior brother at Kenten.
Chief Inspector Jebuni said Ameyaw and the pastor lured Mr Takyi to a teak forest at Kintampo, tied him to one of the trees and left him there.
The prosecutor said they removed the 30,000 Euros and 1.2 million CFA francs from Mr Takyi’s pocket and left him there.
When Mr Takyi regained consciousness he managed to free himself and returned home to report the matter to the police who arrested the pastor and Ameyaw at a hideout.
