Pastor remanded in custody for rape

Twifo Praso (C/R), Oct 09, GNA – A pastor who raped a 19-year-old girl on the pretext of healing her mother was on Friday remanded on a provisional charge of rape by a district magistrate’s court at Twifo-Praso.

The plea of John Jacobs of the Twelve Apostles church at Twifo-Asamoakrom was not taken and he is to be re-arraigned on Friday October 16.

Prosecuting, Inspector George Okine told the court that on September 27 the accused went to the victim’s house and offered to heal her mother, Madam Ekua Mensimah, who was ill.

Jacobs decided to spend the night at Madam Mensimah’s house to enable him to perform some rituals and was given a room. But late in the night the pastor invited the victim into his room and raped her.
