Pastor assaulted by unidentified policemen

Nsawam, (E/R), July 19, GNA – Pastor David Kwabena Ebo, Prayer leader of Teacher Mante Prayer Camp of the Church of Pentecost in the Eastern Region was last Tuesday rushed to the Nsawam Government Hospital for treatment for the injuries he sustained when six policemen allegedly assaulted him at Teacher Mante.

Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency at the hospital, Pastor Ebo said he was driving from Nsawam to Teacher Mante in the company of his daughter and some church members when the police ordered him to stop.

He said the policemen who were riding in a car with registration number GP 1443 asked him to park his car after which they dragged him from the car, assaulted him and tore his clothes.

Pastor Ebo added that the policemen who accused him of over speeding drove away with his American Hyundai Saloon car with registration number GR 58 U in addition to 15 million cedis, a new Nokia mobile phone and documents covering the car.

He said although he had contacted both the Nsawam Police and the Police Headquarters in Accra, he had still not been able to locate his car and the policemen who assaulted him.

When the GNA contacted the Nsawam Police, it was learnt that although a hospital form was issued to the pastor to attend hospital, they were yet to identify the culprits.

The police said all policemen on special duties from Accra, Koforiridua and Kibi had to notify the District Police Officer before their operations but in this case nothing of the sort was done. Meanwhile the police have intensified their investigations in search of the car and the culprits.
