Past local Government workers receive awards

Accra, Nov. 27, GNA – the Local Government Workers ‘ Union (LGWU) of the Trades Union Congress, on Friday discounted rumours that it had merged with the Civil and Local Government Staff Association. Mr Stephen Abagrey, National Chairman of the union Mr Abagrey said the LGWU remained independent. He made this known when he addressed an awards ceremony for former union activists in Accra.

Those awarded comprised regional chairmen and national officers who were presented with Television sets, certificates of honour and cash prizes. They are Mr Dickson Wunni, National Chairman for Upper East Region, Mr Martin Yeboah, Eastern and Mr Daniel R. K. Addo, Greater Accra. Others are Comfort Mulling, Theophilous Nii Amugi, all former national officers of the union. However, Mr De-Wars Amissah, former Western Regional Chairman of the LGWU who was among the recipients died the previous day.
