Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum says Thomas Partey is in the “right frame of mind” and will be crucial for the Black Stars in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Villarreal midfielder has been named in Ghana’s squad for the matches, with Asante Twum stressing that Partey’s experience and leadership make him indispensable.
“Thomas Partey is in the right frame of mind. He is in top shape, and so we think that, being a senior player and with his experience, and what he brings to the table, we will need him in these two matches,” Asante Twum said in an interview with Asempa FM.
Partey’s inclusion comes despite ongoing legal commitments, which he has been made aware of. According to the GFA, those obligations will not prevent him from joining the national team camp.
“He is aware of the court date, but he can come and be part of the team,” Asante Twum explained.
The 31-year-old has battled injuries over the past year, but his recent form in Spain has been encouraging for both his club and country. With Ghana eyeing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Partey’s availability could prove decisive.
