Outstanding Ablekuma North Collation: NDC appears unbothered because they know they Lost the Seat

The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East constituency, Hon. Onyina Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi, has expressed concerns about what he describes as the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) apparent lack of interest in the outstanding Ablekuma North 2024 parliamentary election collation.

According to Hon. Gyamfi, the NDC’s seeming unbotheredness stems from their knowledge that they did not win the seat.

Speaking on Ghana Kasa on Thursday, June 5, 2025, Hon. Gyamfi stated that if the NDC had won the seat, they would have ensured swift collation of the results.

“If they had won, they would have directed the quick mobilization of security to ensure the collation of results,” he asserted.

Hon. Gyamfi questioned the NDC’s priorities, saying, “I see it that because the government didn’t win that seat, they seem unbothered. But what about the constituents who need representation in Parliament?”

He emphasized the importance of representation for the people of Ablekuma North, highlighting that they deserve to have their voices heard in Parliament.

He further queried whether the residents of Ablekuma North are being disregarded as Ghanaians due to the government’s lack of interest in ensuring their representation in Parliament.

“Are the residents of Ablekuma North no longer regarded as Ghanaians, that the government is not showing any interest in giving them representation in Parliament?” Hon. Gyamfi asked.

This was on the back of the Minority’s march to the Police Headquarters to petition the Inspector General of Police over the delay in the declaration of Parliamentary Election Results for the Ablekuma North constituency by the Electoral Commission after the 2024 General Elections.

The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh addressing journalists on Wednesday June 4 at the Police Headquarters called on the police to provide protection to the EC to enable the declaration of the results.

He further noted that “The absence of a declared MP for Ablekuma North constitute a serious violation of the constitutional right to representation guaranteed under the 1992 constitution.”
