Our suspension is illegal, say suspended NPP members

Kumasi, Feb 11, GNA – Sheik Issa Salama and Alhaji Musa Shaikayi, the two members of the Asawasi constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have been suspended by the constituency executive, on Friday described their suspension as illegal.

The two have also denied the allegation levelled against them. Reacting to their suspension in a statement they jointly issued in Kumasi, they said considering the serious allegations levelled against them, the appropriate thing the constituency executive should have done was to refer the issue to the regional secretariat.

”We therefore find it ridiculous, unethical and highly disappointing for the constituency chairman to act unlawfully.” The two requested Mr Frederick Fredua Anto, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, to call on emergency meeting of the regional executive to deliberate on the matter.

On the issue of the elimination of Mrs Patricia Apeagyei, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Asawase constituency in the recent election, the two members said they had referred the allegation to their lawyers for advice.
