Osei Tutu II SHS to get science block

Tetrem (Ash), June 9, GNA- Government has released 50,000 Ghana cedis for the construction of a science block for Osei Tutu II Senior High School (SHS) at Tetrem in the Afigya-Sekyere District of the Ashanti Region.

Mr Samuel Ekuoba Gyasi, Headmaster of the school, who led the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to inspect the project, after the Board of Governors meeting on Friday, said the donation was in response to an appeal made to President John Agyekum Kufuor by the school authorities. He said from its own resources, the school has completed the construction of a temporary girls’ dormitory at the cost of 10,000 Ghana cedis and purchased 90 students beds at the cost of 3,000 Ghana cedis. Mr Gyasi said that a statute of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has been constructed at the cost of 2,600 Ghana cedis in front of the administration block of the school.

The school, he said has also purchased a photocopying machine and a mower at the cost of 2,500 Ghana cedis. Mr Gyasi announced that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was putting up a two-storey girls’ dormitory, which he said would be completed next academic year.

He commended the school’s Board of Governors and the Parent-Teacher Association for contributing to the development of the school and appealed to the GETFund to provide the school with a bus to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr Gyasi said even though the school lacked some facilities it has been able to produce prominent citizens and appealed to individuals, organisations and the old students of the school to contribute to the development of the school.
