Osei-Owusu filed his nomination papers at Bekwai

Bekwai (Ash), March 18, GNA – Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) on Monday filed his nomination papers to contest for the primaries of the Amansie East parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Bekwai in Ashanti.

He was led to the constituency party’s office by his teeming supporters amidst brass band music, dancing and merry-making. His other contestant, Mr Kofi Poku Adusei, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), had already picked his form to contest the election for a third time.

Mr Osei-Owusu called on the Party Executives to remain neutral by not siding with any of the candidates to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the primaries.

Receiving the papers and an accompanying cheque for GH¢1,000, Mr Gyamfi Brempong, First Vice-Chairman of the Party, urged supporters of the contestants to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful atmosphere so as not to bring any division among the NPP family in the constituency. Addressing his supporters later, Mr Osei-Owusu, a lawyer and former Amansie East Constituency Chairman of the Party, said his vision was to help uplift the Amansie East communities to an appreciable standard in terms of developments particularly on health, education and infrastructure.

He called on the delegates to the congress to elect a marketable candidate of his calibre who has the welfare of the people at heart.
