OSA Workers make appeal to President

Accra, Dec. 24, GNA – Some 700 workers of the OSA Transport have appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor to intervene to save the company from collapse.

Acquiring more buses to enable the company to pay their full salaries, they said, could solve the problem.

At a meeting on the fate of the company on Monday in Accra, Mr I. Y. Quaye, Chairman of the company’s branch of the Local Government Workers Union, said, the non-full payment of salaries has resulted in most of their children to withdraw from school, workers ejected from homes and their marriages have collapsed.

Mr Quaye said the workers believed that “there is the need to set out a concrete restructuring and revamping programme to take the OSA out of its current quagmire.”
