Only a change of gov’t will rescue Ghana – Kwabena Agyepong

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyepong, has criticized President John Mahama and the NDC for the huge debts it has accrued compelling Ghanaians to live under very harsh economic conditions.

In interview with UK based radio station Amansan FM, he said, it is ridiculous that a country like Poland will go on the international market and raise 1.7 billion dollars at 0.94 %, and Ghana will go to the same market and borrow at 10.75% .

“We are a high-risk country and a no go area for investors,” he said.

The General Secretary criticized the way the country was being run and said every Ghanaian now owes GHC3,500 as compared to GHC400 when NPP left office in 2009.

Mr. Agyepong who was in the UK to represent the party and the flagbearer Nana Akufo- Addo at the Conservative Party Conference held in Manchester, said “this sad mismanagement of our finances and reckless borrowing cannot be sustained and that only a change of government will rescue the country.

He, therefore, called on all party members to close ranks and work very hard to get the whole country behind the flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo and all NPP parliamentary candidates to win massively in 2016.

He said every member must be prepared to sacrifice for this victory. “We must go everywhere in Ghana whether stronghold or not; to every room, house, street corner, kiosk, school, salon, taxi rank, trotro station, shop, factory, village , palace, church and mosques for the votes” he said.
