Only 1 out of 200 community day SHSs completed – IMANI

Only one out of the 200 community day secondary schools promised by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been completed, a report by think-tank IMANI Ghana has revealed.

The report also discloses that 50 are under construction while 50 have been given awarded under contract.

This came to light on Wednesday, July 29, when IMANI Ghana released a report on the performance of NDC so far. The mandate of the party was renewed in 2012 after reclaiming power from the new Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008.

47% overall

At a ceremony in Accra, Maud Martei of IMANI Ghana scored government 65.7 per cent in the educational sector.

The think-tank, however, scored the John Dramani Mahama-led government 47 per cent over all.

This was tagged satisfactory with more room for improvement.

The full report is expected to be released on Thursday, July 30.

While the economy scored 36.4, governance and social policy scored 43 and 49 respectively. Infrastructure scored 51.36 per cent.
