Apam (C/R), April 27, GNA – The Omanhene of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrifo Ahunaku Ahor Ankobea II, has announced plans to mobilise tertiary students to organise vacation classes for final year junior and senior secondary schools students in the area as from the 2007-2008 academic year. Speaking during visits to some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres in the Gomoa District to encourage the students, he advised the invigilators and supervisors to be firm without “intimidating the candidates”. “Desist from actions, which can put fear into the students,” he stated.
The Omanhene said he decided to visit the centres to spur on the students following the poor performance of some schools in the 2006 BECE.
“For as much as 15 schools in the district to score zero per cent in the BECE must be a concern for every body”, he stated. He urged the candidates to have faith in God and to rely on their hard work and preparation for the test instead of “examination leakages”.
