Official appeals to youth associations to team up

Sunyani, Oct. 19, GNA – Mr Victor Paa-Kwasi Mensah, Executive Secretary of the Federation of Youth Associations of Ghana (FEDYAG) on Wednesday called on youth associations to team up to access funds from government for developmental programmes. He said most of youth associations could not access funds because of their divided fronts.

Mr Mensah said the federation was making plans to organise capacity building workshops on leadership skills and how to access funds for members in January next year.

Addressing the national executive meeting of the federation in Sunyani, he expressed concern about the alarming rate of alcoholism, drug abuse and other unhealthy practices amongst the youth. Mr. George Donkor, interim Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of the federation, appealed to the youth to channel their exuberance into productive ventures. He said the regional branch has 1,200 members and mentioned financial difficulties as their major constraint. 19 Oct 06
