Office Block For Traditional Healers Commissioned

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), 4 June – A nine million cedi office block for the Dormaa District Healers Project has been commissioned at Dormaa-Ahenkro. The project which is to enhance health education for traditional healers and Traditional Birth Attendants was funded by “Bread for the World”, a German non-governmental organisation. Dr Kwadwo Antwi-Agyei, the Dormaa District Director of Health Services who commissioneed it, said the role of traditional healers and Traditional Birth Attendants is vital in the Primary Health Care programme. He said the block was started in 1986 as a pilot project and has so far trained 145 traditional healers and Birth Attendants in the Dormaa District. Dr Antwi-Agyei said the training programme has also enabled the healers and the TBA’s to come together to form the Dormaa traditional healers association.
