Obasanjo to address National Prayer meeting

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA – A National Prayer Breakfast to be addressed by the Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is scheduled for September 10 at the State House in Accra.

The meeting is part of a continental initiative to organise annual National Prayer Breakfasts in at least 30 African countries by the year 2021.

At a press briefing in Accra on Monday, Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology, Kumasi said another African leader would also be attending the meeting, which would be preceded by a time of prayer on September 9.

He said the meeting takes inspiration from the annual national prayer meetings organised in the United States and by some organisations.

Prof. Andam said the breakfast meeting aims at celebrating God’s blessings and seeking for his favour for Ghana.

President Kufuor, top politicians and business executives, among others, are expected at the meeting, which is being organised by all the major churches in the country.

The meeting, to be part of the national calendar, is under a 14-member planning committee with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr S.K. Boafo, as the chairman.
