Nyariga Girls JSS Gets New Block

Nyariga-Done (U/E), Nov. 3 (Credit Akagre S/180) GNA – Mr. Benedit Yindol, Assistant Director for Human Resources Management and development at the Bolgatanga Municipal Education Office, on Wednesday commended the Nyariga-Doone Blessing Basket Project for providing 49.5 million cedis towards the construction of a two-unit classroom block for Nyariga-Doone Girls’ Junior Secondary School. Mr. Yindol made the commendation at the commissioning of a block for the JSS at Nyariga near Bolgatanga. He said the Bolgatanga Municipal Education Directorate had plans to sensitise parents on the computerized school selection placement system to enable more students gain admission to Senior Secondary Schools and other second-cycle institutions. He said the Municipal Education Directorate would supply bicycles to teachers in deprived areas and procure gas cookers for newly trained teachers as a motivation. He said the Directorate was not happy with the performance of the Bolgatanga Municipality in the basic education examination adding that the school slid from the 25th position in 2003 to 53rd in 2004. He said measures had been put in place to raise the standard of education and expressed the hope that all stakeholders would help.
