Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – The Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GNRA) on Friday gave the assurance that its members would resume work while discussions continue on the payment of their Additional Duty Hours Allowances (ADHA).
The decision followed further discussions the Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister of Manpower and Development, the Chairman of Health Services Council and others on one hand held with the leadership of the Nurses and other health professional groups in Accra on Friday. A statement the parties signed after the meeting said, “a proposal was made to the GNRA executive for their consideration in relation to their grievances.”
It said in the meantime, “the leadership has given the assurance that all their members would return to their normal duties immediately whilst discussions continue.”
The statement said, “It is expected that the frankness and good spirit exhibited during this afternoon’s discussion will be exhibited throughout the forthcoming negotiations to enable an amicable solution to the grievances expressed by the nurses.”
The nurses embarked on a strike on Monday, September 20, in demand of the equitable payment of allowances for extra duty hours.
