Tamale, Aug. 06, GNA – Striking nurses at the Tamale Teaching Hospital resumed work on Thursday after reaching an agreement with the hospital authorities on the implementation and the modalities for the payment of the Additional Duty Hour Allowance (ADHA).
A memorandum of understanding signed by Dr Daniel N. Tapang, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital and Mr Salifu Musah, Chairman of the Northern Regional Chapter of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) called for a committee to be set up to review the ADHA administration in the hospital and recommend new levels for all staff. Nurses at the Hospital on Monday went on strike to back their demand for the 52 ADHA.
The two parties agreed that the nurses resume work on August 4, while 30 ADHA be paid across board for all nurses from May 2004 to August 13.
The memorandum directed that subsequent ADHA payments be suspended until the committee finishes its work. When the GNA visited the hospital nurses were at post performing their duties.
