Nunoo-Mensah dishing out flawed advise to Mahama – NPP

Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken President John Mahama’s National Security Advisor to the cleaners after Nunoo-Mensah insisted that recent strikes were caused by the country’s largest opposition party.

Jake Obetsebi Lamptey described Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo Mensah (rtd) as “a scary dangerous individual who talks on top of his head”.

A defiant Joseph Nunoo-Mensah was hitting back at calls by the NPP demanding that he resigns his position over his controversial “get out of the kitchen” warning he gave to striking public workers.

He accused the NPP of being behind the many labour unrests that has plagued the Mahama administration this year, calling it “political demonstrations” and a “trojan horse”, adding, “people are hiding behind professionals,” as he questions why the NPP would be insulting him.

But speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey challenged Nunoo-Mensah to back his claim with real evidence.

“He should show us where his intelligence is..let him back up his claims”, The NPP National Chairman demanded.

He was of the view that the Security Capo’s comments reflect the quality of the president’s team and reiterated his party’s call on the president to sack him without giving him the option of a resignation.

Recalling a controversial claim made by President Mahama months ago, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey suggested that Nunoo-Mensah had the penchant for dishing out flawed advice to the president.

“I will not be surprised if he was the one who advised Mahama that the market fires are caused by arsonists”, the NPP National Chairman noted.

The president’s comment made on the outbreak of fire that engulfed market places was seen by his opponents as a gaffe.

He traced the former Chief of Defence Staff’s history during a PNDC military junta, where he suggested the army would not hand over to a civilian government despite public pressure to do so.

He said Nunoo-Mensah then ran away to Britain when Ghana was too hot for him, and developed love for British way of life, indicating that the NPP “will meet on the issue, and we will come out with a full statement of what the party position is.”
