Social Court Chief Ekumpoano Chief granted GH¢10.000 bail

Cape Coast, May 24, GNA – A Cape Coast Circuit Court last Friday granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000.00 to the Chief of Ekumfi-Ekumpoan o, Nana Korsah VII, who allegedly raped his ex-fianc=E9e’s 27-year-old daugh ter. Failure of the Police to establish an alibi pleaded by the chief necessitated the bail. According to the defence counsel, Mr John Appiatse, he personally ga ve the Police money to verify the alibi of the chief at Nyankumasi but faile d. The court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah said it had noticed t he lapses on the part of the prosecution and that it would, therefore, be unfair to hold the accused in custody. The accused was also ordered to report to the Police twice a week. Nana Korsah, 48, allegedly raped the woman after he had sent her to buy fried fish for him.
