NRC Chairman Will Not Be Sacked – Govt

The Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani says the NDC’s petition to the President demanding the removal of the Chairman of the National Reconciliation Commission is receiving attention. He however said the Chairman will not be sacked.

”We received the petition last Friday and we are studying it, but as to whether he will be removed from the Commission, that one is no”.

Mr Mpiani told the ”Chronicle” that government will issue a statement on the petition at the appropriate time.

He dismissed fears being expressed by the NDC that Justice Amua Sekyi’s presence on the Commission will impact negatively on its final report.

The Chief of Staff however questioned the motive of the NDC petition saying ”we don’t know whether they wanted to score a political point or what, because how can you send a petition to the President and a copy to the press?”

The NDC on Saturday called for the removal of the NRC chairman saying that he has shown his bias against AFRC and PNDC as far as witnesses appearing before the commission are concerned.
