NPP to hold rally in Sunyani on Sunday

The Sunyani East constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would hold a political rally in Sunyani on Sunday, August 22. A statement signed by Mr Kwabena Asante-Gyabaah, the constituency secretary, said a procession of party activists would march through the principal streets of Sunyani before the rally.

It said speakers would include Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Minister of the Interior, Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo, Finance and Economic Planning Minister and Nana Akuffo Addo, Foreign Minister.

Others are Ms Christine Churcher, Minister of Girl Child Education, Mr Kwadwo Adjei Darko, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and MP for Sunyani West and Mr J.H. Mensah, Senior Minister and MP for Sunyani East.

The constituency is yet to conduct its primaries to elect a candidate from amongst six aspirants for the parliamentary elections in December.

When contacted Mr Asante-Gyabaah said they were yet to receive the date for the elections from the national headquarters.

The aspirants are Mr Mensah, Mr George Kumi, Ghana’s Ambassador to Libya and Dr Kofi Bobie Barimah, a lecturer at the Catholic University of Ghana at Fiapre, near Sunyani.

Others are Mr Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh, Mr Kwame Twumasi Awuah and Nana Obiri Boahen, all legal practitioners at Sunyani.
