NPP thugs allegation is useless- Asiedu Nketia

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has labeled as unfounded, baseless and fictitious allegations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that it employed the services of hoodlums to foment trouble at the forecourt of the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The NPP in a statement after the Supreme Court sitting on the electoral fraud petition accused the ruling party of intimidating its followers, who had thronged to the court premises with heavily built men otherwise known as “macho-men”.

Reacting to the charge on Adom FM, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, was emphatic that the spurious allegations were targeted at maligning the reputation of the NDC.

“This is a complete falsehood and a diversionary tactic to distort what transpired at the court. The NDC has shown over and over that it believes in the rule of law and we have always clamored for peace to prevail despite our political differences,” Mr Asiedu Nketia added.

He insisted that the move is a face saving mechanism by the NPP to rescue its diminishing fortunes.

“The NDC has lost an election before so we are much aware of what the NPP is going through. They are just engaging in this propaganda to win public sympathy, but we can assure them that the NDC will remain focus and fight the case in court,” Asiedu Nketia retorted.

The NPP’s Communication Director, Nana Akomea, who also joined the programme via telephone contested Asiedu Nketia’s claim, saying “we have authenticate our facts and we are much convinced that the thugs who came to the court premises were sponsored by the NDC”.
