NPP targets one-touch victory in 2016

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is united in its decision to help flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo chalk a one-touch victory in the 2016 elections.

One-touch victory means there will not be any run-off, indicating a victory of 50 per cent plus one vote.

According to a statement issued by party chairman Paul Afoko, bigwigs like Former President John Kufuor and Alan Kyerematen will be visible on 2016 campaign platforms of the party.

Mr Afoko stated this in a rejoinder to a publication that suggested that Nana Addo’s three-time running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will lead the 2016 campaign.

“The said publication is a complete misrepresentation of my very comment in the interview,” Mr Afoko stated on Tuesday, April 7.

He pointed out that rather, the former president, Mr Kyerematen, Dr Bawumia and the 2016 flagbearer challengers will all be part of the campaign.

“United in decision, the NPP stalwarts and members intend to support our Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo in the campaign to achieve a one-touch victory in 2016.”

He said it would be premature on his part to reveal at whim the party’s 2016 strategy.

“I therefore entreat the general public and especially members of the NPP to disregard the said publication.”
