NPP realizes 200 million cedis in Nkoranza

Akuma (B/A), Nov. 6, GNA – Members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nkoranza South constituency at the weekend bagged more than 200 million cedis (GHC20, 000) in an appeal for funds at the inauguration of the youth and women’s wings of the party at Akuma.

Addressing a well-attended rally Professor Mike Ocquaye, an NPP presidential aspirant, said the government had demonstrated true democracy as regards freedom of speech and respect for fundamental human rights and urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the party to retain power next year.

“The government has initiated a lot of programmes to help move the country forward and to enhance the livelihood of the citizenry”, he said.

Prof. Ocquaye said Ghanaians should be proud of the government for the launch of the Bui dam project that had for a long time been on the developmental agenda of the country’s past governments. Mr. Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Deputy Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament for the constituency, commended the government for initiating projects in the area and called for division of the district into two. Nana Tweneboah Kodua, an elder of Akuma, urged the leadership of political parties to promote peace and understanding needed for nation building during Election 2008.
