NPP race: Sanction “irresponsible” Sir John – Group

A group called NPP youth for 2016 is demanding disciplinary action against the party’s General Secretary.

It claims Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John has been “irresponsible” with his blatant bias for the party’s twice-defeated presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The group, in a statement copied to XYZ News, said no sooner had party elder Prof Mike Ocquaye said Sir John had been warned by the Council of elders against showing plain bias for the former Attorney General with such divisive comments, than he went on air to commit the same offence.

“Barely 24 hours after the wise words, was the General Secretary on Radio XYZ endorsing Nana Addo”, the statement signed by group Coordinator Barima Sarpong said.

“This smacks of disrespect for authority and we call on the council of elders to summon Sir John immediately and direct the disciplinary committee to investigate and sanction him”.

It said Sir John’s “deviant” behaviour is not just counter-productive to the party’s quest to regain power but also “killing” the NPP.

The group says Sir John’s “abhorrent and irresponsible endorsement”, if not reined in, will emasculate the NPP’s fortitude ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Sir John has however, in a reaction, told XYZ News the same people criticising him, have themselves admitted that Nana Akufo-Addo is the Party’s best bet for the 2016 elections.

According to him, his critics may be complaining because he is the one making the endorsement rather than some other people in the party.
